2 weeks in Oz from Andrew Melouney on Vimeo.
Hi Guys,
Short video from the last 2 weeks in Perth while Steve was over here.
Summer has been crazy here, locals are calling it the worst season for wind they can remember but so far we have had 85 days of wind over the last 3 and a half months. 23 days over December, 20 of those in a row.
Will be glad to get back to work tomorrow, its been a tiring holiday!. For the first 9 days we kited twice a day. We would have an early session from 10 or 11am to 1ish, go back to the house across the road for some beers then hit another sesh from 5-7pm on our 8m's.
Then we did a 6 day road trip north of Perth. We had 2 of the hottest days on record in Perth since 1980s, both well above 40 degrees. We melted camping in the heat but a case of mother, cream soda and beer helped. The first 3 days had pretty light wind, our mate Pete was able to get up on his 14m (probably one of a handful of kites in Perth over 10m). We made up for it though with some spearfishing, few downwinders and lots of beer. The next 3 days had us powered on our 8m's from early in the morning. I had probably one of the best wave sessions I have had in a year at one of the spots where it was blowing 30kts + cross offshore and on the last day Steve finally nailed his blind landings.
Cheers,
Andrew from Perth W.A (Windy Always!)
P.S It has also not rained in the last 90 days here...crazy climate here.
