Sterkfontein Dam February 2010

Durban this morning was extremely wet, the rain was bucketing it down at 05:00, why is it when it rains all the drivers go mad! Durban traffic at 5am was crazy, everyone just seemed to be on another planet.

The drive to Sterkies was nice and quick again, funny because usually when you have done the same trip a number of times it starts to feel like it gets further and further each time, but Sterkies is always a
pleasant drive. Sterkies is simply a magical spot, every trip to sterkies is
like the first.

Arriving at the dam to partly cloudy skies and the wind in the wrong directing, not a good sign for getting any kiting done today. We took a drive down to another spot that works slightly better for the current wind
direction and managed to get a good few hours flying the small Flexifoil Quark,
perfect wind to get a good feel for flying. Tomorrow we should see the guys
getting onto the inflatable kites and beginning in the water, keeping fingers
crossed for lots of wind tomorrow.

Saturday started off a bit chilly but soon the sun was out making it a pleasant morning. As we got down to the dam, the bay was full of swimmers, swimming some crazy distances around boys and back to the finish line.
I could not believe how far and fast these guys and girls swam!

We managed to get some flying time in but only with the Flexi Quark kites, and as the day was passing still no sign of much wind.

We then decided to head out to the rock cliffs and do some cliff jumping to cool off after a seriously hot day, what a blast and a perfect way to finish the day off.

On the drive back to the caterpillar and catfish, I came across these Zebra crossing the road.
